Berwick's Winning Festive Shop Windows
07 January 2013
The winner of the Town Council's festive window display competition has been announced as Needleworks, in Hide Hill.
The twenty one entrants were judged by the Mayoress and Sheriff's Lady, and Needleworks was awarded first prize for a ‘very festive and wonderfully original window'. As well as a framed certificate Needleworks will receive a cheque for £50.
Runners up were Buds of Tweedmouth, Studio Hair Design in Bridge Street, the Tourist Information Centre in Marygate, the YMCA shop in Marygate and Zebra Boutique in Castlegate.
Mayoress Anne Robertson said: ‘Once again the standard of window display was very high, showing imagination and hard work by every entrant. It was an extremely difficult decision to make, and we would like to congratulate everyone who joined in. These competitions show our excellent shops at their very best, and we now look forward to the next one, an Easter theme, which will give plenty of scope to our artistic retailers.'
