Berwick Parks Project well underway
07 February 2011
Ambitious projects to regenerate two of Berwick’s parks are well underway.
CastleVale Park (also known as The Lily Pond Park) and Coronation Park, each dating from the 1930’s, could both be restored if a £1 million bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund is successful. Residents have already provided a rich resource of memorabilia for consultants Southern Green who are preparing the bid, and views on the proposals are being sought in local schools as well as from visitors to a recent public consultation event.
Partnering Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Council in the scheme are Northumberland County Council’s Neighbourhood Services Team and community groups CARA (Castlegate Area Residents Association) and Berwick in Bloom.
