Christmas Events
19 November 2013
Berwick's Christmas lights will be switched on by the Town Mayor, Councillor Isabel Hunter, on Saturday 30 November at 4.30 pm. The ceremony will take place on the steps of the Town Hall, and the Town Mayor will be helped in her festive task by children from Prior Park school. Church of Scotland Minister, the Reverend Doctor Adam Hood, will give a blessing.
Before the switch-on, from 2 until 4 pm, the Mayor will welcome visitors to the Guild Hall. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available, there will be carols and music, and Santa will be a special guest for young guests. There will be a small charge for refreshments, with all proceeds going towards the Mayor's chosen charities, the Alzheimer's Society and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
The annual Boxing Day Dip, when the Civic Party will brave the icy water to raise funds for charity, will take place as usual at 11 am on Spittal Beach. Sponsor forms will be available from the Tourist Information Centre in Marygate, from the beginning of December.
