Tree work to start in Castle Vale and Coronation Parks
28 February 2013
Work is getting underway next week in preparation for the Heritage Lottery Funded improvements at two Berwick parks.
To prepare for the scheme work is needed on trees in Castle Vale Park and Coronation Parks and Northumberland County Council is appointing contractors to carry this out from the week beginning 4th March.
The works will include felling some trees that have been found to be dangerous, inappropriately planted or self-sown; crown lifting and crown clearing others to remove dead wood and improve views; and removing ivy from some trees.
The overall parks scheme has been awarded almost £900,000
from the Heritage Lottery Fund and is due to be launched soon. More details about the programme will be announced next week, and an overview is available on the website www.northumberland.gov.uk or by contacting Emma Evans, green spaces officer, on 01670 623509.
